- a peak rating greater than 450
- defeat at least 5 opponents rated over 500
- rating maintained above 400 for at least 15 consecutive games
- either or both of the following:
- a 1st place finish in at least 1 tournament in a section of strength 1 or stronger
[NOTE: Occasionally, a 2nd place finish in a particularly large and strong section may be accepted
as equivalent to a 1st place finish for purposes of Title promotion];
- at least 10 unique stronger opponents defeated since last promotion;
