When/Where: Monday, 21 February 2005 at Aliamanu Intermediate Cafeteria, 3271 Salt Lake Blvd, near Salt Lake Public Library. Advance Registration fee: $5 per individual on a team, up to a maximum of $20 per team if received by Saturday, February 19th, 2005. Late registration (on site): $15 per team or $5 per team member added to pre-registered team. Time Control: Game / 25 minutes (Rapid) USCF Rules Apply: 6 round Swiss pairing system and USCF tiebreaks.
Scorekeeping: Although not required, it is strongly recommended. Score sheets are used to settle disputes and will be required for the State Scholastic Championships.
Three Divisions: K-6 (Elementary), K-8 (Middle), and K-12 (High School). All teams will be combined in a single section for pairing purposes. Teams shall consist of 4 players (minimum of 3 players) from the same school. Schools may enter more than one team. The Division will be determined by the oldest player on the team. Teams with 3 players forfeit board 4 each round. Teams consisting of mixed schools may compete for individual board prizes only.
Board Prizes: Individual Trophies to top three board players and top middle school player and top elementary school player at each board. Team Medals: 4 individual medals to each member of each of the top 3 teams overall (Gold, Silver, & Bronze sets of four), Top Middle School Team, and Top Elementary School Team. Team score will count 1 team point for each team win, ½ team point for team draws, and team points for team losses. USCF tie- breaks apply.
Team color (White/Black) assignment for each match: Color assignment will apply to board 1 and 3. Boards 2 and 4 will have the opposite color Time schedule: 0900-0930: Check In and Late Registration 0945: Coaches & players meeting with Tournament Directors 1000: 1st Round, 1100: 2nd Round, 1200: 3rd Round, 1300 (1pm): Lunch Break, 1400 (2pm): 4th Round
